Program Assistant – Summer Student Position
Full Time (35 hrs/wk) Summer Student Position
Wage: $14.25/hr
Term: July – August 2019

The Okanagan School of the Arts is a creative hub for emerging and professional artists that seeks to promote arts and culture in the community of Penticton. Located in the historic Shatford Centre building, the Okanagan School of the Arts has been offering quality arts programming since 1961.

The successful candidate, supported by staff, will develop skills in the Arts and Cultural sectors through practical hands-on experience in event planning, marketing, program development, and facilitation. Student will assist the Operations Coordinator and Program Facilitators in planning and implementing fun, engaging, unique, and diverse arts and cultural programming and events for a variety of ages and across a variety of disciplines relating to arts and culture.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, and exhibit skills in attention to detail and organization. They must be reliable and responsible, and have excellent communication skills. Experience with planning events is an asset but not required. The ideal candidate will be savvy with various social media platforms and website management. Preference will be given to candidates that are planning careers in education, arts, and cultural studies.

Job duties include, but are not limited to: Planning, coordinating, and implementing a program schedule for the next 6-12 months, working with arts and cultural professionals to develop programs, budget preparation, office duties such as answering phones and filing, assisting clients and tenants, setting up/taking down for events, light maintenance, light housekeeping, and other duties as required.
