The Connection Between Art Healing & Community – New Dates – March, April, May

The Okanagan School of the Arts and the Penticton Regional Hospital Foundation are partnering to develop the first permanent, theme based, art collection for the benefit of patients, visitors and staff.

This is a unique opportunity for local artists to create paintings for the new wing of the Penticton Regional Hospital.  This program will encourage artists to move beyond art for art’s sake, to art that has the power to transform the viewer. Each artist will create unique paintings that express healing benefiting both patients and caregivers.

Jan Crawford B.Ed BFA AFCA, will guide a group of experienced  painters to produce 10-15 large paintings (36 x 48) that will  engage the viewer and offer a moment of reflection.

This twelve-day course will take place at the Shatford Centre. It will be held over 6 weekends each two weeks apart, giving the artists time to work on their paintings.  Dates chosen are Saturdays & Sundays,  March 16/17, March 30/31, April 13/14, April 27/28, May 11/12, May 25/26, 2019.

The artists will produce one painting for themselves and one for the hospital collection that is inspiring and relevant to the path of illness leading to health.

The ten to fifteen paintings to be donated to the permanent art collection of the Penticton Regional Hospital will be chosen by a qualified jury. The collection will be displayed in the new tower.

The cost for the 12 day course will be $750.  Some material costs will be covered through a grant from the Hospital Foundation and Opus Kelowna .  Bursary funds from the Okanagan School of the Arts Bursary Fund may be available to qualified applicants.  Applications are available at the office.

The maximum number of spaces available is 15.
