The Okanagan School of the Arts is seeking a motivated person who can work with the Board and a small staff team to implement a sustainable social enterprise business model for the Shatford Centre.

Established in 1960, the OSA is one of the longest-running schools of its type in Canada. The OSA offers arts courses for students of all ages and stages of development, and hosts periodic visual art exhibitions. Our home is the Shatford Centre, a centre of creativity that has been a part of Penticton’s history for almost 100 years. We are moving forward with a renewed vision and are solidifying our role as a fixture in the Penticton community.

The part-time Operations Coordinator will coordinate with the Executive Director to implement and improve a strategy to increase utilization of, and revenue from, facility rentals and events. They will oversee facility scheduling, logistics planning, and relationships with tenants/renters.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement a strategy to increase utilization of, and revenue from, the Shatford Centre
  • Manage rental and tenant inquiries, facility scheduling, and rental agreements
  • Maintain detailed rental and lease records
  • Act as primary point of contact for tenants, short term renters, and events
  • Distribute invoices and collect damage deposits, fees, rents, and other payments as required
  • Distribute, track, and manage keys, key codes, fobs, and other security system tools for users of the Shatford building
  • Ensure equipment and supplies are ordered and stocked to ensure efficient facility usage in accordance with the budget
  • Lead and supervise building maintenance, event set up, contractors, and volunteers
  • Plan, support, and implement key events, programs, and activities in collaboration with the Executive Director
  • Assist with the maintenance, upkeep, and improvements to the building and assets
  • Advise and assist the Executive Director with capital improvement projects, renovations, and building improvements
  • Ensure building security standards are established and met
  • Act as a point of contact for security alarm response
  • Communicate a monthly report to the Board of Directors through the Executive Director

Reports to: Executive Director

Member of: operations team made up of the Executive Director, custodial staff, summer students, volunteers, and other staff as the operations budget permits.

Terms and Conditions:

Approximately 15 to 30 hours per week, with the option to move to full-time employment if revenue targets are met/exceeded.

Halloween Costume Building at the Ideaforge Maker Space

Want to build an amazing costume but need tools, expertise, or space? Join us for family-friendly drop-in sessions in the basement of the Shatford Centre!

Bring the main components of your costume, and we’ll have cardboard, fabric, pain, wire, hot glue, foam, and loads of tools to help you look your gruesome best this Halloween.

Experienced costume builders will be on hand to lend guidance if needed.

$15 drop-in fee (free for Ideaforge members)

Every Thursday in October, 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm, and on October 31 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

What’s Happening at the Shatford!

Sax Among Friends

The Summerland Community Arts Council presents “Sax Among Friends” Friday, April 12th at the Summerland Arts Centre. Show starts at 7pm, tickets are $10 at the door – don’t miss it! See poster for details!

What’s Happening at the Shatford!

This Saturday March 30th check out the Okanagan Vintage Fair here at the Shatford starting at 10 am till 3 – collectibles, clothing, decor, art, crafts and much more.  Entry fee only $2

At the same time visit the Shatford’s Basement Sale – just down the stairs to the right of the front entry.  Selling lots of vintage items, crystal wares, collectibles, pictures, frames, artist supplies and some furniture items. Our spring fundraiser.

Check out Anomaly House too and chat with Shae about the latest in art supplies – she has a fantastic selection – two doors to the left of the stairs on the first floor.
